Hurricane Man

ImageProxy First hosted in September 1997, the Hurricane Man Open Water Challenge presents two distances:

  • 2.4 Mile (4,000 meters)
  • 1000 Meter

Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, the 2017 race was cancelled. This has happened only twice in the 20 year history of this race.

The 2016 Hurricane Man took place on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in Pass-A-Grille.  The event filled at 400 participants and was very successful.  Results are posted here: hurricane man 2016 final results (2) 2016 Event photos Course Map: HURRICANE MAN MAP INFO The course is a one-way swim along the beach from start to finish. The near-shore course makes the course safe and if you can breathe to your left, it’s easy to navigate.

Note for 2018 we have moved the start and finish of the 2.4 mile race 500 meters North. It will now start at the Sirata Beach Resort and finish at Hurley Park in Pass-A-Grille. Registration is open!
