St. Pete Masters has 11 workouts available each week. Members may use the pool facility anytime it is open to the public as well as the assigned practice times.
ABOUT WORKOUTS
SPM Swim Training is designed to prepare swimmers for improved fitness, open water events, and pool competitions/events (Meets, 1 hour swims, GTD, etc). All workouts can be swum freestyle, or as indicated on stroke/kick sets. Workouts will offer swimmer’s base intervals (send-offs) from 3:00 per 100/ym to 1:10 per 100y/m and everything in between.


SPM Workout Weekly Schedule Emphasis
The focus is on accomplishing the purpose of the workout — pacing, efficiency, speed, endurance, or skill — rather than simply accumulating a specific number of yards. To support well-rounded development, the weekly focus will follow the general structure below, with adjustments made as needed based on the time of the season and performance priorities. We’ll also throw in creative days with holiday themes, relays, games, and curveballs to keep it fun!
Sun: Smooth Aerobic HR
Mon: Distance Pace
Tues: Stroke and IM or Free (free gets more rest)
Wed: Distance “Broken Mile Wednesday”
Thur: Speed (all strokes)
Fri: 50-200 Pace for all strokes
Coaches’ requests please: (but “it’s masters” so you can decide)
-Know your times in practice
-Leave 5 seconds apart (so you can know your time) and we can see your times.
-Use the equipment as written in the set
-Have paddles, buoy and fins, fins-that make you fast (long fins advised)
-Warming up slowly and with fins is recommended for shoulder health
